Situated next to the N12 highway on the banks of the Natalspruit River, next to the reading interchange, this magnificent farm was established in 1890 by Johannes Petrus Meyer. This forms part of Alberton's history and beginnings.

The farm can also be seen from Meyersdal Eco estate which use to part of the land owned by Johannes Petrus Meyer.

Johannes Petrus Meyer bought 11 hectares of his father’s farm, Elandsfontein from his stepfather at the age of 13. After the passing of Jan's wife in 1870 he decided to start a general store that is also still standing on the farm.

Generations have lived on this beautiful farm and the 5th generation is currently managing this farm.

The Weltemeyer yard is not only a historic landmark it also forms part of the Urban Raptor Conservation project.
